Fundraising for Why I Stayed: Support Stories That Matter
Taevo Publishing is calling on advocates, supporters, and changemakers to help bring Why I Stayed: An In-Depth Exploration Into the Realities of Intimate Partner Violence to life. This powerful anthology, scheduled for release in May 2025, seeks to amplify the voices of 25 survivors from across the globe as they share deeply personal stories about why they stayed in abusive relationships.
Our goal is ambitious but crucial: to raise $75,000 through an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign to ensure that these stories are told with the care and quality they deserve. By contributing to this effort, you’ll not only support a groundbreaking book but also join a movement committed to raising awareness, fostering understanding, and promoting action to end intimate partner violence (IPV).
How the Funds Will Be Used
At Taevo Publishing, we prioritize paying our contributors fairly and producing high-quality books. Here’s how your support will make an impact:
- Author Compensation: The majority of funds will go directly to the 25 authors featured in the anthology. These survivors have bravely shared their stories, and we are committed to honoring their voices by ensuring they are compensated for their work.
- Production Costs: This includes editing, cover design, formatting, and printing. Our goal is to produce a professional, visually striking book that reflects the significance of its content.
- Distribution and Marketing: To ensure Why I Stayed reaches as many readers as possible, we’ll allocate funds for marketing campaigns and distribution efforts, making it accessible to individuals, shelters, and non-profits globally.
Sponsorship Program: Giving Back to the Community
In addition to crowdfunding, Taevo Publishing has launched a sponsorship program to ensure the anthology reaches the hands of those who need it most. Sponsors can donate to cover the cost of providing free copies to shelters, non-profit organizations, and advocacy groups. These books will serve as resources for survivors seeking validation and hope, as well as for those working to support them.
“This sponsorship program is an extension of our mission,” says Tamara Mayo, founder of Taevo Publishing. “We want to ensure that Why I Stayed is more than just a book—it’s a tool for education, healing, and empowerment in communities affected by IPV.”
