    • Description: “Abused and Abandoned” is a gripping tale that explores the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity in this coming-of-age story of three best friends.
    • Details:
Tunisia could pinpoint the day it all went wrong: when she met Dee, a much older, handsome Marine who dominated the basketball court and whose attention made her feel beautiful and special. Tunisia thinks he could be “the one,” even though Dee isn’t the man she thinks he is. This deception – and their improper relationship – leads her to devastating consequences. One of five children in a working-class Naval family and in over her head, fifteen-year-old Tunisia has no one to turn to except her two best friends, Mecca and Avalon, who are struggling with their own demons. Mecca has suffered the ultimate betrayal by the person she loved and trusted the most, and Avalon resorts to drugs to deal with a secret so dark she can’t even share it with her best friends. Eventually, through their support of each other, Tunisia and her friends find the strength to triumph over the tragedies of their lives.Tunisia’s story, told to her teenage daughter Aja, goes straight to the heart of the struggles many adolescent girls from all walks of life still face today as they navigate the triggers that make them susceptible to teenage relationship abuse: complicated relationships, societal pressure, and low self-esteem. The poignant, emotional, and unflinchingly raw story of one girl’s journey to peace and healing, Abused and Abandoned offers a beacon of hope to those caught in the cycle of abuse.

    • Details:
What happens after you leave your abuser? Sometimes, it doesn’t immediately mean you’re safe or guaranteed a fresh start in life. Sadly the past pain and trauma still lingers… especially if you are still repeatedly stalked and harassed by the tormentors. The heart-wrenching journey of Tunisia and her best friends, Mecca and Avalon, continues as the three girls fight past and current demons, salvage the remnants of their dreams and attempt to repair their lives.Unfortunately, their former abusers have different – and possibly more dangerous – intentions in mind.Tunisia receives threatening letters from Dee, while Mecca deals with the stigma of being Black and in therapy. Avalon, on the other hand, grapples with an irrational decision that could either be life-shattering or a miracle for her still-healing family.

      Three very different families.
All involved in one real struggle.Military life – and the difficulties faced, especially during deployment – are often swept under the rug. Military spouses and children are sometimes left feeling like no one understands.Always the dutiful military wife, Diamond has been married to Xavier for over twenty years. Together, the two of them are raising a beautiful 17-year-old daughter, Myesha. They have the image of the perfect family, but Xavier’s return from his latest deployment shows a drastic behavior change – drinking more, a shorter temper, and constant feelings of paranoia. When Diamond wakes up one night to Xavier attacking her, she realizes how deeply in jeopardy her family has fallen. As their situation deteriorates, the effects of his PTSD begin to sway Myesha toward a life of crime, and Diamond must do everything in her power to pull their world back together.Chloe and Sergio – young newlyweds basking in their happiness and health – did not expect to be separated immediately after getting married. However, Sergio’s deployment overseas changed their life in ways Chloe could never have imagined.
When Sergio returns injured, Chloe finds herself strapped with the task of caring all alone for a man who no longer has the will to live. As she begins to lose herself in the hopelessness of her daily life, she wonders if another man is the answer, or if it would be wrong to leave Sergio in his condition.

Starr and April both proudly serve in the military, despite the discrimination they face as a same-sex couple. They choose to “play by the rules” and not make waves, but when April experiences a traumatic event overseas that shatters her faith in men, she turns to drugs, alcohol, and abuse to cope with her pain. As April tumbles deeper into despair, a very frightened Starr finds herself wondering just how far her partner will go in her search for retribution.

In this gripping tale, these dynamic women find themselves engulfed in the very real after-effects of war, the truth about PTSD, and the fear of what their own tomorrows will bring.
