Norfolk, VA — Taevo Publishing has officially announced the restructuring of its upcoming anthology, Why I Stayed: An In-Depth Exploration into Intimate Partner Violence. Originally slated to include 22 contributors, the anthology will now move forward with a revised format featuring only seven authors.
“This was one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make,” said Tamara Mayo, Sr. Developmental Editor and contributing author of the project. “Every single story submitted was powerful and important. But in the spirit of transparency and sustainability, we had to restructure in order to build a strong foundation—not just for this volume, but for future volumes to come.”
Despite the shift, Taevo Publishing is choosing to celebrate and uplift all of the original contributors by offering a range of professional support and resources:

A video + transcript of their one-on-one manuscript consultation with Tamara Mayo
A custom Submission Mapping Framework and Standard Manuscript Format sample (SMF) template to support future pitching and submissions
The Wrote By Me platform, created by author and entrepreneur Django Degree, allows writers to showcase their work, sell their own books, and link directly to their social media or online stores—all supported by a behind-the-scenes sales and fulfillment staff. Taevo Publishing has collaborated with Django to ensure every contributor walks away with a lasting resource to grow their writing career.
“This is not a closed door,” said Mayo. “It’s a shift in the blueprint. And our original contributors are always part of the Taevo Universe. I believe in their voices and am deeply proud of the trust they placed in us.”
The updated version of Why I Stayed will still serve as a powerful narrative collection on domestic violence survival and is expected to relaunch in 2026.
