Taevo Publishing was originally founded in 2009. Years later, our still-growing company continues to publish books intended to inspire women and children to empower themselves to greatness through shared knowledge. We publish fiction and non-fiction across a wide range of genres and markets.
We are a Black-owned, woman-owned traditional independent publishing house dedicated to sharing the voices and resounding messages of BIPOC women writers.
Like other growing traditional publishing houses, we do pay advances on royalties. While they are not on the same scale as the Big 5 Publishers, we compensate for that by offering substantially larger royalty percentages for all mediums.
We are not a vanity or subsidy publisher. We do not charge authors any fees to publish books.
At Taevo, we work directly with our authors from beginning to end when it comes to publishing their works. We are dedicated to constantly learning how to innovate and make our authors and readers happy.
“We don’t just publish books – we publish legacies.”
– Taevo Publishing
In contrast to the larger publishing houses, we see our authors as so much more than a product or commodity – we see them as family, friends, and business partners we want to help grow to the next level. This is why we respond to all queries and submissions and maintain online spaces for our authors at no cost. We also provide free online coaching and support for those submitting unsolicited pieces.
Our goal is to deliver high-quality books to the literary marketplace while helping authors earn a respectable income from the royalties of their books that touch as many potential readers as possible. We do this by planning and executing highly focused, long-term marketing strategies that are unique to each book and its target market. We also pay authors 40% gross royalties, which is more than quite a few of the other traditional publishers currently offer.
We accomplish our mission through our decades of writing, editing, web programming, and publishing experience that are constantly put to use.
We also proudly assist aspiring and current authors by ceaselessly researching and freely sharing the constantly-changing industry updates with anyone who wants it. We do this through our:
- web content, including videos and other interactive media
- articles
- blogs
- corporate literature
- fiction
- non-fiction
We do this because we believe those of us who do work in the publishing industry perform a great disservice to our community – and the literary arts as a whole – by not availing this valuable knowledge more easily to the public.
One of the major points we often talk about is the benefit of making your book available on electronic devices such as the Kindle, Nook, iPads, desktop computers, laptops, and SmartPhones. We believe that doing so increases not only your book’s visibility but also the number of sales achieved.
We have a broad range of freely accessible products and services aimed to encourage more content writing, professional editing, ghostwriting, and e-book publishing among our peers.
At Taevo Publishing, we believe if it’s not polished, it’s not worth releasing. That goes for our books as well, and we happily take you on the journey with us as we update books on our backlist, share the ups and downs of publishing, and try to steer you away from the same mistakes we’ve made.
Every decision our company makes is born from the principles that guide us and will continue to evolve us far into the future.
With Taevo, you receive the satisfaction of knowing you are in the company of honest, hard-working lovers of literature, and that you are well taken care of.
Welcome to Taevo Publishing.
At Taevo Publishing, we deeply believe that the written word carries a divinely mysterious power – one that allows the influence of those words to echo in the minds of readers and inspire throughout the generations. It’s not just about publishing our work; it’s about finding other talented writers who struggle to share their masterpieces with the world. We lament over the lost, hidden gems that remain buried in slush piles.
Commitment to Ethics
We believe in honesty and transparency. One of the biggest problems that currently abounds in the publishing industry is dishonest people using misleading information to take advantage of authors. They callously and shamelessly exploit new authors and small businesses, thus creating bitterness in an industry that is supposed to flourish with creative imaginations, the sharing of truths, and a plethora of new information.
We believe in the future and promise of digital publishing. This is why our focus always has been – and always will be – e-books. While we are aware of what goes into the creation of an e-reader, we know that we can only fight one fire at a time right now. So, we choose to try and save as many trees as we can, while keeping in-house publishing costs lower.
We believe that collectively, we human beings hold the power to make the world a better place for our children and the future generations to come.
Protection of Women and Children
We believe that the protection of our women and children is tantamount, especially now. Women and children on a global scale are extremely unprotected in this patriarchal world, and it is our calling to use our platform to help abused and disenfranchised women and children all over the world, starting within our community.
In order to be successful, we have to think on a unified level. As women entrepreneurs, we must take control of our books being turned into our movies, our scripts being turned into our TV shows, our artwork, our image as a whole. We believe we have to support each other’s growth to the distribution level in order to be successful.
Liberation
To us, free will is liberation from the constraints of the world. We value the freedom given to us by the Creator. We exercise that here through our flexibility in how, when, and where we work. We value being able to work from home (no commuting for us!), which gives us the opportunity to be with our family more, spend time learning new skills, and live healthier lifestyles.
Integrity
At Taevo Publishing, we mean what we say and say what we mean. We believe that as a business, we must always do the right thing and constantly exercise honesty, integrity, and transparency in our business strategies and connections. We uphold all conditions in the agreements reached, and if we cannot, we do everything in our power to resolve it amicably.
We respect the intellectual property of authors and do not condone the use of predatory contracts that claim to “own” an author’s publishing rights. We value our reputation and strive to carry ourselves as all other reputable traditional publishers do.
At Taevo, we believe that constant honesty and transparency will build trust. In turn, that trust builds loyalty, and that loyalty builds brand reputation.
Global Service
At Taevo Publishing, we believe and accept that we are citizens of this world. We are naturally oriented toward service to others. In our short lifespan, we believe the least we could do is try to do everything we can to protect and preserve the planet and its people.
We are confident in our decision to remain a digital publisher first, with print books and runs being a secondary priority. We believe that ebooks are not only innovative and safer for the environment, but they are truly the future and we wish to remain at the forefront of this digital publishing movement and have a greater impact on the preservation of our world.
Empowerment via Knowledge
We believe that knowledge is power, and an educated author is an empowered author. They are well-read, conduct painstaking research, and are constantly seeking to utilize the best tools and resources that will enable them to deliver the best possible product to their beloved reader. As a result, we strive to provide as many resources, tools, learning materials, and links as possible for new authors and publishers, whether they choose to connect with us or not.
Promoting Positivity and Support
We may work remotely, but we strongly believe in being connected as we work and build together. We believe that all of these varying components in the creative universe are at their best only when working in harmony. We have to be each other’s cheerleaders again, instead of competing to be the only one on top. We have to let each other know who we are, as well as who our neighbors are. We believe there’s room for ALL of us at the top.
This is an optimistic, supportive, safe space that seeks to empower anyone who wanders in. We do not believe in putting others down to make ourselves feel better. Yes, we deliver honest truths here, but we always work hard to sandwich any harsh truths with understanding, support, and encouragement.
Taevo Publishing Mission Statement

Our mission is to enrich and empower our literary and multi-media industry with powerful and inspirational books.

Company History
A Word From the Founder:
“My mother was the first published author I had the blessing of knowing. Growing up where I did, becoming a published author – or even finishing a book for that matter – wasn’t common.
When I was fourteen years old, she actually did it. She finished her first manuscript, “How I Keep From Going Under”, and as a lover of books and hungry reader, I was so incredibly impressed with and proud of her.
My mom had no idea how to publish her book or how to get it published. I remember the day she happily told me she had finally found someone willing to publish her book. It would only cost her $2500. (That was a lot of money in the early 90s, by the way.)
A few months later, she received boxes full of bland-looking books with a purple cover that didn’t match the content, and a brand new title. Not only had she paid this company an exorbitant amount of money, but she was also responsible for marketing, promoting, and selling them!
I remember telling her that that wasn’t the way publishing was supposed to work. That the publisher was supposed to pay for the costs to manufacture, promote, and sell the book. (I mean, what incentive does ANY company have to sell your book if they already have your money?)
I was so disappointed. I felt so sad for my mom as I watched her sell the copies from the trunk of her car, at the flea market, anywhere she could. She set up her own radio interviews, press releases, and everything in between when it came to marketing. And you know what?
She sold every single copy. (Save about twenty copies that are currently in our attic.) And the people LOVED it. The seed for what I wanted to achieve was planted then, at fourteen years old. I just didn’t know exactly how to put it into action.”
Fast forward to 2009 in Victorville, CA after a young woman with wild fantasies finished writing her first book – a contemporary dark fantasy that she had no idea what to do with.
After years of thorough research, querying agents and publishers, then having to accept huge doses of reality – aka the TRUTH about the publishing industry – the young woman finally understood how her own mother was so easily preyed upon by a vanity publisher so many years ago. She realized that the best way to follow her passion was to start her own publishing house.
In her mind, the big publishers could do only so much. It was time for the small, independent presses to step up and become the new gatekeepers that warned the new, wide-eyed authors about the dangers existing in the publishing world while protecting them from the sharks and wolves ready to exploit everything they didn’t know.
This young woman spent years researching the publishing industry – she still owns and references her Dan Poynter book and other gems that taught her the inner workings of a publishing house – then wondered how a single mother was going to pay the huge amount of money for a print run.
Besides, she was a certified tree hugger and didn’t really like the idea of trees having to die for her idea to live.
Her decision was to look to the future. E-books. Digital publishing.
So many advantages, so little time needed to publish. Lower publishing costs, lower overhead… Taevo Publishing was destined to emerge as a digital publishing company.
The first release was “Abused and Abandoned” in 2012 by our 5-star author, Joyce Mayo. Touted more like a “revival” of sorts, Taevo’s goal was to apply our knowledge, skill, and obsessive nature to ensure it would look its best. Mission accomplished.
Next came the sequel, “Too Late To Turn Back”, and then Tamara’s debut novel, “Goddess of Flames”.
From there, we branched out and began to help other authors and writers complete their manuscripts, polish them to perfection, then get them published. After a few years of that, we returned to their roots: in-house publishing for the family.
In 2014, Taevo released Joyce’s third novel “Love Guides Me”, then took a brief hiatus while the founder focused on healing after the death of a very special loved one.
In 2019, after traveling cross-country several times in search of “something lost”, the mother-daughter duo began to hear the call of publishing again. The “awakening” had occurred, and the call to find those writers whose words were for the healing of women and children had been received.
