Three different families.
Each one nurtured and supported by strong women connected to various branches of the military.
All involved in one real struggle.
Military life – and the difficulties families face, especially during deployment – are oftentimes hidden behind closed doors. Military spouses and children are often left feeling as if no one understands.
In this gripping tale, three women deal with the very real after-effects of war, PTSD, and the fear of what their tomorrow will bring.
Always the dutiful military wife, Diamond has been married to Xavier for over twenty years. Together, the two of them are raising a beautiful 17-year-old daughter, Myesha. They have the image of the perfect family, but Xavier’s return from his latest deployment shows a drastic change in his behavior. Not only is he drinking more, but he has a shorter temper and constantly experiences feelings of paranoia. When Diamond wakes up one night to Xavier choking her to death, she realizes that her life – and her daughter’s – could be in danger if they don’t get him the help he needs.
As their situation deteriorates, the effects of his PTSD begin to sway Myesha toward a life of crime, and Diamond must do everything in her power to pull their world back together.
Chloe and Sergio – young newlyweds basking in their happiness and health – did not expect to be separated immediately after getting married. However, Sergio’s deployment overseas changed their life in ways Chloe could never have imagined.
When Sergio returns injured, Chloe finds herself strapped with the task of caring all alone for a man who no longer has the will to live. As she begins to lose herself in the hopelessness of her daily life, she wonders if another man is the answer, or if it would be wrong to leave Sergio in his condition.
Starr and April both proudly serve in the military, despite the discrimination they face as a same-sex couple. They know how to play by the rules and not make any waves, but when April experiences a traumatic event overseas that shatters her faith in men, she turns to drugs, alcohol, and abuse to cope with her pain. As April tumbles deeper into despair, a very frightened Starr finds herself wondering just how far her partner will go in her search for retribution.
